Last night we decided on a restaurant and found our way there only to find it was full until 9:30. We made a reservation for tonight. This is the way with recommended places, it seems.

This town is a party town. Rick Steves says so, but it’s not until you’re here that you realize what that means. A little video might help:

 

We found our way back to the hotel to look up a recommendation from our hoteliere, a place 100 m from here. It turned out to be great, relatively quiet, no smokers (!!), and reasonably priced, good food. Lots of Burrata in these parts — fresh mozarella. I could live on it.

Our boat tour this morning was just over an hour long, out along the spectacular cliffs. While the most famous grotto on the south coast is Benagil, a friend told me it was an “adventurous” hour to get there by boat from here, and another bumpy hour back. I’ve been on seasick tours before, and we opted not to do that to ourselves. Our little boat had eight passengers, and the guide was a riot.

We stopped in the fish market for a boo and a sniff. It’s a wonder there’s any fish left in the sea.

"The Garden" in Lagos, funky restaurant, very different from the usual. The power failed twice while we were there, which made me feel at home.

Tomorrow we begin 3 days of more intense cycling, after what has amounted to 3 days of rest. Onward!
